HyChain-ESI

Hydrogen value chain deployment – Agenda for the emerging hydrogen economy supporting energy system integration

Hydrogen value chain deployment is the production, storage, transportation and usage of hydrogen. It is an integral part of the emerging hydrogen economy that supports energy system integration, which is part of the European Union’s energy and climate energy and climate objective towards 2030. Part of this objective highlights the key role of energy system integration for cost-efficient decarbonization as well citizens’ participation and self-consumption via smart cities and energy communities, in order to realise sector coupling.

What are we trying to achieve and how?

The aim of the project, HyChain-ESI, is to accelerate the emergence of large-scale hydrogen production and transport from renewable power sources to large-scale adoption in different sectors and by a variety of end users. It investigates the potential of hydrogen value chain to enable transition to a clean, low carbon future energy system.
